More than $400 million in positions liquidated in one hour. The bulls today are probably cursing up a storm 🤣
Yesterday, everyone was posting about the US stock market hitting new highs. Then the market did a complete about-face at the open: the Dow dropped 450 points, and the 10-year Treasury yield surged to 5.36%, its highest level since 2002.
$BTC fell from around 87,000 to below 84,000, briefly touching 83,600. Liquidations over the past 24 hours hit $547 million. ETH slipped to around 2,600, while DOGE plunged 4.5%. Everyone took a hit—no one got off easy.
Same old script: Brent crude climbed back above 101, the Houthis bombed two Saudi airports, and a hurricane is headed for the Gulf of Mexico. Oil and bonds are both pushing higher, putting risk assets in a headlock.
The more glorious the S&P 500 and Nasdaq looked yesterday, the rougher they look today. Anyone who got itchy fingers and chased the rally is probably already lining up on the rooftop.
Here’s an interesting bit: the FT says SpaceX plans to raise $40 billion to buy NVDA chips. The AI arms race keeps ramping up—the figure makes my scalp tingle.
The FOMC minutes drop at 2 a.m. Let’s see what they say before jumping to conclusions tonight. Better to ride out a dip than get stuck at the top. Take it one step at a time.
