Asia session: South Korea’s KOSPI (KRX: KS11) closed at 6803.90, down 137.49 / 1.98%, according to Yonhap. Foreign investors sold about 2.2 trillion won in the afternoon (fnnews intraday). The Nikkei’s closing range was around 70150–70200, down about 0.7%; the official closing figure has not been verified. The Hang Seng was still trading, at around 24167 in the afternoon, down 0.5%. China’s A-shares are closed until 10/8.
Reuters put the 10-year yield at 5.307% in the Asia session (+3.8bp). Tuesday’s closing range was around 5.27–5.29%; the 30-year was around 5.66%. A 10-year auction is tonight, followed by a 30-year auction Thursday. Reuters puts the odds of a rate hike in October at around 19% (about 50% a week ago); do not confuse this with prediction markets. The FOMC’s September minutes are due at 14:00 ET / Thursday 03:00 JST and have not yet been released. India’s central bank raised rates by 25bp to 5.50%.
