The Fed is releasing the minutes from its September meeting tonight, and I was thinking about it while wolfing down a couple of bites of lunch. They just raised rates in September, so these minutes probably won’t be all that dovish. The real story is their stance in October—and with nonfarm payrolls weakening and the midterm elections coming up, there’s actually plenty of room for a dovish tilt. But Treasury yields are still elevated, and gold has no clear direction of its own, so the Fed may soften its tone without the market necessarily following suit. Bitcoin dropped to 83,500 this morning and found support; it’s now back above 84,000, which looks okay to me. Anyway, I’ll wait until the news is out tonight before making a move. People who gamble on data releases never end up well. $BTC
