SEC filings show that from September 28 to October 2, Strive bought 2,000 BTC at an average price of $84,422, spending about $168.8 million.
Its holdings increased from 27,462 BTC to 29,462 BTC.
In total, it bought 8,137 BTC in Q3 at an average price of $78,885.
Strive now holds about 29,462 BTC at an average cost of $90,170—still below its cost basis.
For comparison, Strategy bought 950 BTC last week at an average price of $79,670.
Both companies bought in the $79,000–$84,500 range—the price band where institutions have repeatedly been building positions over the past few weeks.
A few figures are worth looking at together today:
Strive has $284.7 million in cash reserves and also holds $50.2 million in Strategy's STRC preferred stock (505,000 shares, unchanged). Holding a competitor's preferred stock at the same time is an interesting move in itself.
Looking at its buying pace: in July, Strive bought only dozens—or even just a handful—of BTC per week. It sharply accelerated in August (1,100 BTC, then 1,800 BTC), bought 1,355 BTC in a single week in September, and bought 2,000 BTC this week. It's buying more as the price falls, and steadily increasing the size of its purchases.
That's not how retail investors buy.
BTC is now trading around $86,000–$87,000, roughly $2,000–$7,000 above Strive's and Strategy's purchase prices last week.
Smart money built positions in the $79,000–$84,500 range and is now sitting on unrealized gains.
Do you think Strive will keep buying next week?
