New podcast episode 🎙️ #615 — Turn writing into your meta-skill
Lately, everyone’s been talking about whether to “distill” their abilities into AI Skills. My answer: start with writing.
Writing is one of the most frequent things we do to express ourselves, and it’s also the domain large language models are best at handling. But the key isn’t getting AI to write for you—it’s being clear about who you are and what you’re writing. With a clear point of view, you can avoid the same-old AI slop.
Once you’ve built a writing Skill, you can use it across all kinds of situations—client proposals, emails to partners, updates to your manager. That’s what I mean by a “meta-skill”: invest once, save time everywhere.
I also talked about two other things in this episode:
🖼️ A Chinese art exhibition at Auckland Art Gallery—the performance art of Ai Weiwei smashing a Han dynasty pot, a “modern landscape” made by layering tens of thousands of photographs, and Cao Fei’s low-resolution reconstruction of *People’s Walled City*. The more technical tools you have at your disposal, the more possibilities you have for expression—that feeling really hit me after seeing the exhibition.
🌿 And an unexpectedly rewarding experience watching a documentary about Hamilton Gardens.
