1. RecodeX reports that Qualcomm and Huawei have reached a “multi-year, broad patent licensing agreement” covering areas including 5G, computing, and artificial intelligence. Huawei said the deal involves cross-licensing the two companies’ patent portfolios and includes Qualcomm’s purchase of some of Huawei’s US patents in computing, AI, networking, and other technology fields. This is the first time Qualcomm has paid Huawei patent licensing fees and acquired its patents.

2. RecodeX reports that BT Group Plc has acquired broadband provider TalkTalk and PlatformX Communications Ltd. out of administration to prevent the latter from collapsing. The deal is expected to have a total cash impact of approximately £400 million (about $529 million) in fiscal 2027.

The queue reflects a large number of ETH seeking to enter the staking validator queue; new stakers must wait about 25 days before they can begin earning staking rewards.

RecodeX reports that Deutsche Telekom said on October 5 that, compared with 2023, it expects AI and automation to generate total cost savings of approximately €1.1 billion outside the US by 2027, and to save around €2.5 billion in indirect costs by 2030. The company plans to invest some of the additional savings generated by 2027 in Germany’s digital infrastructure and fiber-optic networks, and aims to increase AI-related revenue from its business outside the US to around €800 million by 2030.

RecodeX reports that Hong Kong Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui said on October 5 that, in response to financial technology innovation, the government will submit a bill to amend the regulations this year, establishing a licensing regime for virtual asset trading, custody, advisory, and management services. The Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority are also studying ways to improve the legal framework and encourage sectors such as technology and telecommunications to step up the detection and removal of scam-related content, including content generated through the misuse of AI.

8. RecodeX reports that, according to data from online platforms, total box office revenue for the 2026 National Day holiday film season (October 1–7), including presales, exceeded RMB 800 million. Several films are being released during this year’s holiday season, with domestic productions making up the bulk of the lineup alongside several major imported releases. The films span genres including comedy, suspense, romance, and animation.
