Still holding onto your PROMPT / PUMP / BOB perpetual contracts ⚠️
At 5:00 PM today (Beijing time), Binance contracts will directly close your positions for you—profits or losses, you have to accept them.
What happened:
On October 1, Binance released an announcement: starting at 17:00 on October 5 (Beijing time), the following three USDT-collateral perpetual contracts will be automatically settled and delisted:
① PROMPTUSDT
② PUMPBTCUSDT
③ 1000000BOBUSDT
From 16:30 onward, you won’t be able to open new positions anymore (you can only reduce positions). If you have open positions, it’s recommended that you close them yourself in advance—don’t wait for the system to close them for you. The settlement price is not something you can choose.
How to think about it:
First, let’s be clear: delisting of the contracts ≠ project rug pull, and it’s not spot trading being delisted either. If you’re holding spot, there’s no need to panic and cut losses.
But if you’re trading perpetuals, take it seriously. After the announcement, the liquidity and depth of these contracts will shrink quickly. As settlement approaches, the slippage and funding rates could look pretty ugly. The automatic settlement price is also not something you can choose—manually closing the position is usually more cost-effective.
My own habit is to enable reminders for Binance announcements. For any announcement like “delisted / auto-settled,” I make sure to handle the positions on the same day—never leave it overnight to gamble on the settlement price. Every fraction of slippage saved is profit.
