Bitcoin rose 2.05% to 86,500, and Ethereum rose 1.46%. SOL rose 1.57%, and the broader market regained strength. Today is completely the opposite of yesterday. Yesterday, none of the eight sectors had more than half in the green; today, seven out of eight are above 50%. Capital has broadly returned to altcoins.
The most heavily weighted direction is the L1 public chains. Among 23 constituents, trading totaled 803 million, with the median up 1.46%. The up-volume ratio was 87%. IOTA rose 8.8%, ADA rose 6.2%, and XLM rose 3.6% led the gains. It has the largest weight and also strong breadth—this is the most solid direction today.
Meme has even more extreme breadth: all 10 constituents are up. The median gain is 2.93%, the highest median increase among all sectors. FLOKI rose 5.2%, PUMP rose 4%, and PENGU rose 3.6%. However, its total trading volume is only 167 million, clearly smaller than L1, so it’s more of an emotion-driven line.
AI is also turning stronger: 9 constituents are up, with an up ratio of 56%. FET rose 12%, making it the strongest among today’s mainstream coins. This sector had been weakening for the past few days, but today it started to recover.
The only one still bleeding is DeFi. Of 19 constituents, 47% are up. The median is down 0.35%, making it the only one not keeping up among the eight directions.
My view is straightforward: today is broad-based gains, not a single-point breakout. In this kind of market, choosing sectors is not as good as choosing positioning—chasing something that has already run up can easily backfire. L1 has the biggest weight and is the steadiest; AI has just started bouncing back, so its upside momentum could be better. DeFi is the only one that hasn’t moved. If it catches up, that would likely be the final rotation in this wave.
