AI agents are about to become the most active participants in crypto markets — and most investors have not priced this in yet.

Right now, AI agents are largely used for analysis: sentiment scrapers, price alert bots, automated reporting dashboards. That is already useful. But the next wave is agents that actually hold wallets, execute swaps, and manage positions autonomously without a human approving each transaction.

Think about what this implies:

— Gas demand will structurally increase as agent-driven transaction volume compounds on top of human-driven volume.
— MEV dynamics shift when agents compete with other agents at machine speed, potentially creating new MEV categories entirely.
— Smart contract composability becomes a competitive advantage — chains and protocols with clean, predictable interfaces attract agent integrations faster.
— Stablecoin liquidity depth matters more, because agents routing value programmatically will always seek the deepest, lowest-slippage path.

The chains best positioned here are not necessarily the most hyped — they are the ones with reliable finality, strong developer tooling, and high transaction throughput. Infrastructure that tolerates unpredictable agent-driven demand spikes.

Investors tracking AI+crypto narratives should look beyond token prices and focus on which ecosystems are actively building agent-compatible primitives: on-chain agent registries, intent-based execution layers, and verifiable compute for agent outputs.

The convergence is coming. The question is which chains become the preferred substrate for autonomous economic agents.
