Another oil tanker was hit by an unidentified flying object 4 nautical miles east of Oman. All personnel are safe, and no leaks have been detected so far. Citing AP, UKMTO said this is the fifth attacked oil tanker in recent days. After the incident was made public, $BTC remained around $84,600 and there was no new sharp drop.
Don’t interpret this as “the market isn’t afraid.” With oil prices, US Treasuries, and US stocks all closed for the weekend, BTC is only one of the few risk assets still continuously being quoted—trading on the first, thinner-liquidity “answer sheet.”
The market is distinguishing things very clearly: a ship being hit doesn’t mean the shipping lanes are being cut off. What truly changes pricing is whether there are subsequent, continuous attacks, vessels rerouting, and actual supply disruptions. If these kinds of evidence emerge, on Monday the first thing to jump will be oil and inflation expectations—then BTC will receive the second “exam paper.”
