Blast, Ethereum Layer-2 was once very hot during the airdrop-hunting era among friends, and it is now preparing to shut down.
The reason given is that L2 revenue is not enough to cover the costs of maintaining the network, while the project has no feasible roadmap to balance its finances on its own.
Users are required to withdraw all assets from the Blast network, including the balance on Blast PWA, back to the Ethereum mainnet.
Before 26/10/2026, users can still withdraw funds normally via Blast’s web/app interface.
After 26/10/2026, the web interface will be closed. Assets are still safe, but users will have to interact directly with the Blast Bridge smart contract on Ethereum L1 to make withdrawals.
The biggest point I noticed is that the lifecycle of a Layer-2 can change very quickly.
Blast and Blur were once extremely popular names during the airdrop season, attracting a large number of users and liquidity. But when revenue is no longer enough to maintain the infrastructure, shutting down the network becomes a practical option.
Anyone who has farmed Blast—remember to check your wallet and withdraw your assets before the deadline; don’t wait until the interface closes to handle it.
