1. Nebius Group acquired Inferize, a newly founded Israeli startup established for only ten months, on October 1, 2026, allegedly for between $100 million and $150 million. Its technology that reduces idle time for AI inference cold-start GPUs will be integrated into the Nebius Token Factory as the company competes with AWS, Google Cloud, and CoreWeave for the inference-heavy AI workload market.

2. The U.S. Treasury’s OFAC listed the A7 network as a significant transnational criminal organization, alleging that it processes more than $17 billion through a shadow banking system, involving Iranian oil sales, weapons procurement, and illegal cryptocurrency activities. FinCEN also proposed restricting transfers by relevant intermediary institutions and issued a risk alert.

3. Data from Gyeonggi-do and Gangwon-do in South Korea shows that North Korean garbage balloon incidents caused 24 damages in 10 cities and counties in Gyeonggi-do between May 28, 2024, and November 28, 2025. The direct loss was 414.42 billion won. In the same period, tourism spending in five border counties in Gangwon-do fell from 444.45 billion won in 2023 to 414.15 billion won in 2024, a decrease of more than 30 billion won.

4. The preprint platform arXiv announced that starting October 1, 2026, each submitter will be limited to at most two papers per month, with a maximum of three active submitted papers per account. The move is intended to address the issue of volunteer reviewers being overwhelmed by a surge in AI-generated papers. Previously, in May 2026, the platform imposed a one-year ban on authors who did not disclose AI-generated content.

5. On October 1, Guangzhou South Railway Station handled 1.049 million passenger trips, setting a new daily record and the national historical high for passenger traffic at a railway station. 7. AT&T sent text messages to users admitting that some iPhone 18 Pro Max devices have cellular network issues. It recommended upgrading immediately to iOS 27.0.1. However, the release notes for this version indicate that the actual fix is for the Face ID issue in the iPhone 18 Pro series. At least several thousand users are reportedly affected. The cause of the malfunction has not yet been confirmed, and Apple has not publicly responded.
