Bitcoin rises 1.07% back to 84,700, with trading volume of 1.43 billion, but today’s fund radar has only one conclusion: money is running into Bitcoin, while altcoins are bleeding out.
I scanned eight sectors, and none had an advance ratio exceeding 50%. The largest-weight L1 blockchain saw 1.608 billion in成交, with a mid-point drop of 0.67%, and an advance ratio of only 17%. Yesterday’s two main themes have also flipped entirely: AI fell from 78% to 22%, DeFi fell from 63% to 32%. In the privacy sector, the mid-point fell 5.65% and the advance ratio was 20%, while NIGHT—up 24.8% last night—turned around and reversed today.
This kind of tape is a textbook “siphoning” market. Bitcoin is strengthening on its own; altcoins don’t have follow-through. That means the newly added capital only recognizes BTC and is unwilling to spread into smaller coins. In this situation, chasing altcoins is the easiest way to lose money.
The only bright spot in the whole market is AAVE. It’s up 7.32%, with volume of 38.5 million, making it one of the rare green candles among today’s mainstream names. The catalyst from buybacks and token burn is still there. Yet while the DeFi sector as a whole is weakening, AAVE is going against the trend—suggesting there is capital specifically targeting it, not just a sector effect.
My take is very direct: today is not a day to trade altcoins. Without sector breadth there’s no direction, and the small-cap coins on the gainers list are just noise. Either wait for Bitcoin to stabilize and see whether altcoins can catch up, or only focus on something like AAVE that has independent catalysts.
