Conclusion up front: In the past hour, U.S. stocks and commodity contracts liquidated a total of $5.63 million, with the long side taking 59%. But a single SNDK short order accounted for as much as one-third.

Equity-related liquidations were $4.56 million, or 81% of the total; commodity-related liquidations were only $1.07 million. In terms of direction, the long side was liquidated by $3.32 million, indicating that the side that chased the move higher in that hour was hit harder.

The largest short order is an SNDK short position on an empty order. The amount is $179,000, accounting for 32% of the entire market. In the same hour, however, SNDK did not fully squeeze out the shorts. The large single order looks more like a local position being squeezed out, not a reversal of the underlying trend for the entire asset.

Long positions in SOXL have also appeared continuously, with several trades totaling more than $130,000. During the U.S. stock trading session, leveraged chasing is most afraid that the index won’t move while individual stocks first dip or “poke” lower.

Do you think it will continue liquidating longs tonight, or will the shorts get their turn to catch up?
