🚨 MetaMask has just started removing ETH validators following a security incident.
MetaMask says an ongoing security incident has affected part of its infrastructure, prompting it to proactively exit the affected validators within non-custodial staking operations. The company also confirms that it has not found any imminent threats to MetaMask wallets so far.
What are the key details?
These validators are related to staking via Lido, and the exit process could temporarily remove ETH from staking while the investigation continues. Reporting related to Lido indicates that the full exit cycle—withdrawal, then re-entry—may take up to about 45 days.
That means the market should differentiate between two points:
Wallet users are not currently being informed that they face an immediate risk.
But the validator infrastructure was definitely serious enough to trigger an emergency exit.
When one of the biggest Ethereum wallet brands begins pulling validators as a precaution, traders take notice.
Security incidents don’t need stolen funds to move the market.
Sometimes, the reaction itself is the signal. 👀
