Taylor Hornby found the critical Orchard vulnerability while auditing the protocol with traditional security techniques and $AI assistance. The flaw could potentially have allowed an attacker to create ZEC inside the shielded pool. 🛡️
Developers moved quickly, Orchard transactions were temporarily disabled, and a patched circuit was deployed.
No unauthorized ZEC creation was found.
Then came the unusual part:
Zcash holders voted to retroactively fund the people who did the security work — approving $8.39M across 17 projects. 💰
