DogeOS said in a press release that the public test network went live last night, giving Dogecoin an extra layer where it can run applications.
They said this is an EVM-compatible environment built for DOGE, so developers can start doing things like trading, lending, stablecoins, and games on it—the mainnet is coming later.
They said the underlying ledger will stay as-is, and smart contracts are added on top of that layer.
