Gold and crypto assets are moving in an unusually synchronized fashion, with both breaking down together. $BTC has fallen back to around 83,400. Spot gold $XAU also suffered a daily drop of over 3%, retreating to near 4,125. Coins such as $ZEC recorded even deeper declines of nearly 10%. When assets that combine both hedging and risk attributes are sold off in tandem, the signal the market is sending is extremely direct: cross-market capital is concentrating in withdrawing liquidity.

The core driver suppressing asset valuations comes from the upcoming “super data week.” The PCE on September 30 and the nonfarm payroll report immediately following it will directly determine how the interest-rate path evolves. In an environment where U.S. Treasury yields remain high and exert pressure, large funds choose to sharply reduce exposure ahead of the macro “shoe drop,” locking in profits and stepping aside to observe. The expectation of tightening liquidity is quickly transmitted across asset classes.

During an indiscriminate liquidity-draining cycle, purely technical support levels often prove fragile. Whether the large-cap coin at 83,000 can truly form a bottom depends on whether the upcoming macro readings can cool the tightening expectations. If the data clearly eases and brings back rate-cut expectations, liquidity repair could quickly squeeze out the shorts. But until a clear signal is given, the market still needs to digest the remaining risk-off sentiment.
