On September 26, 2026, at 10:00 UTC, PitbullChain's P2P traffic light showed 69/100 in yellow, with a «moderate caution» label, and reported a spread of 4.76% for USDT/VES: buy at 981.44 Bs. and sell at 936.81 Bs. At the same time, the consolidated order book from Binance and other platforms showed a better buy position at 970.05 Bs. and a better sell price at 970.39 Bs.: a spread of 0.04%.
Both numbers are correct because they don’t measure the same thing. That’s the core point of this guide: USDT doesn’t have one single price—it has several, and each one serves a different decision.
📊 What each market panel measures
Before comparing figures, identify the panel. Mixing data from methodologically different sources is the most common—and most expensive—mistake.
Indicator (26-Sep-2026, 10:00 UTC) Traffic light value, buy 981.44 Bs. Traffic light value, sell 936.81 Bs. Traffic light spread 44.63 Bs. (4.76%) BCV Dollar 857.01 Bs. Parallel Dollar 971.31 Bs. (buy 969.61 / sell 973.00; spread 0.35%) Book, best buy (bid) 970.05 Bs. Book, best sell (ask) 970.39 Bs. Book, spread and mid price 0.34 Bs. (0.04%) and 970.22 Bs. The first ones are reference prices. The last ones are real orders published by traders. They are not interchangeable.
📈 Reference price: the number that summarizes—not the one you execute
When the traffic light says 981.44 Bs. or the BCV says 857.0058 Bs., it’s publishing a reference price: a snapshot summary of the market at an instant. It’s useful for orientation and for calculating premiums; it’s not the price at which your order will fill.
The premium versus the BCV at that cut was 14.52%. This figure measures the distance between the P2P market and the official rate, and it works like a thermometer—but it doesn’t tell you what offers are available or which bank.
🔎 Best position: the first row of the order book
The best position is the most competitive price that exists on each side of the book at this moment. In the cut: 970.05 Bs. for whoever buys USDT and 970.39 Bs. for whoever sells. The mid price, 970.22 Bs., was one step away from the reported parallel dollar (971.31 Bs.), which is consistent: both are fed by P2P trading.
The best position is not your price either. It only applies if your full amount fits within the minimum and maximum limit of that offer, if you accept that bank, and if the trader keeps the listing live.
💰 Depth: how far the price holds
Depth tells you how many USDT are behind each level. In this cut, the buy side had accumulated 569,375.12 USDT and the sell side 123,390.25 USDT. That asymmetry explains why the book looks like this:
• Move 100 USDT to the best ask: 97,039 Bs. (100 × 970.39).
• Move 1,000 USDT: you move up to the third level (973.90 Bs.) and the weighted average price becomes 972.61 Bs., about 2.22 Bs. above the best ask.
• Move 100,000 USDT: you reach 975.70 Bs., meaning 5.31 Bs. of slippage, or 0.55%.
That slippage is the invisible cost of large orders, and it’s asymmetric. The sell side is stacked between 974 and 976 Bs., with blocks of 41,996.39 USDT at 975.00 Bs. and 32,420.46 at 974.94 Bs. The buy side has much bigger walls lower down: 100,000 USDT at 960.30 Bs. and 94,852.09 USDT at 958.50 Bs., concentrated in Pago Móvil and “Another method.”
