The community comes together to support Bitget after the attack it suffered

Leaders in the cryptocurrency industry expressed their support for the exchange following the vulnerability that resulted in the loss of USD 350 million.

Bitget works with external security firms.

Executives from Bybit, Binance, and MEXC offered Bitget resources for tracking and security.

The flaw affected the outflow of ETH, AVAX, BNB, and stablecoins, but did not impact private keys.

Various executives from cryptocurrency exchanges expressed operational and technical support for Bitget. The joint statement comes in response to a security breach that affected the service’s infrastructure.

Company by company, the executives offered tracking tools and cybersecurity resources to mitigate the damage. Ben Zhou, CEO of Bybit, was one of the first to make his forensic analysis infrastructure available.

“The Bybit team is on standby to help in any way we can. Bitget helped us when we were hacked. We are updating lazarusbounty.com to help Bitget capture and track the movement of the stolen funds,” Zhou said.

In 2025, Bybit suffered a $1.5 billion funds withdrawal incident, with Bitget cooperating as part of the response.

Richard Teng, CEO of Binance, also joined the initiative, confirming assistance among technical departments. “We’re with Bitget and its users following the recent incident. Our security team has been working closely with them since it was detected, sharing intelligence, tracking funds, and supporting recovery. In moments like this, the industry unites against attackers. The work continues,” Teng said.

For his part, Vugar Usi, CEO of MEXC, reported that he established direct communication with those affected. “Bitget is a company and a team I know very well; we contacted the team first thing this morning after learning about the incident. MEXC is ready to support Bitget in any way we can. In moments like this, the industry is stronger when we stay together,” Usi said.

Likewise, Sumit Gupta, cofounder of Indian exchange CoinDCX, expressed his support for Bitget’s leadership. “Sorry to learn about the incident at Bitget. The industry is stronger when we stay together. The CoinDCX team is on standby to help in any way we can, Gracy. I’m sure the team and the ecosystem will come out stronger,” Gupta said.

This coordinated deployment seeks to contain the flow of drained funds in an attack estimated at $351.6 million. The incident involved the outflow of ether (ETH), avalanche (AVAX), BNB, the stablecoins USDT, USDT0 and USDC, the XAUT token, and other cryptocurrencies, as CriptoNoticias reported.

Regarding the breach’s origin, the company’s CEO, Gracy Chen, revealed the vector used by the attackers. “The attacker compromised a critical server in our wallet infrastructure, manipulated transaction logs, and induced the approval system to transfer the funds,” Chen detailed.

However, the executive clarified that the flaw did not compromise users’ private keys, ruling out a direct impact on the custody of individual access keys. To fully clarify what happened, the investigation remains active through joint work by the exchanges’ cybersecurity teams and the forensic analysis of the specialized firms Mandiant and SlowMist.
