IOTX: After the network restarts, compensation still needs to be accounted for separately

Reproducing the blocks is evidence of technical recovery; whether the stolen bridge reserves were replenished is another ledger. After the IoTeX February ioTube incident, the mainnet was restored, and the official also published the compensation plan. These two developments are both worth recording, but they cannot be merged into a single claim that “the entire impact has already ended.” Native $IOTX and the cross-chain representation CIOTX must also be distinguished—don’t treat them as the same asset just because the names are similar.

The plan announced in March provides full immediate compensation to users whose affected balances are no more than $10,000; for the portion exceeding that, payments are made quarterly over the next 12 months. The very fact that it’s split into installments indicates that the dates when block production resumes and when the compensation obligations end may differ. The official later said the claim entry had gone live and payments had started, but this time there has not been a reconciliation showing that all compensation through today has been fully received.

I think at times like this, clearly distinguishing progress is more meaningful than simply posting “all bad news is done.” After the security upgrade resolves how the system will operate going forward, the compensation record answers who bears the responsibility for the losses from the past. A new product can of course continue to develop, but historical obligations also need to be continuously explained; only when both achievements are visible do you get closer to a complete view of the project’s status.
