🔥 The SEC just opened a new path for stocks to move on blockchain rails.
The US SEC has created a five-year framework allowing qualifying blockchain-native venues to facilitate trading of certain tokenized US stocks.
The temporary exemption covers Tokenized Securities Venues using permissioned automated market makers and liquidity pools. Some liquidity providers may also receive relief from dealer-registration requirements.
The timing is notable. It came just two days after the CLARITY Act failed to advance in the Senate, 49–50, leaving the US without a comprehensive digital-asset market-structure law.
For traders, the bigger question is what this means for the connection between traditional markets and blockchain infrastructure. The framework is still limited, with symbol and volume caps, transparency rules, trading halts, recordkeeping, and technology safeguards.
My view: this is an important regulatory experiment, but five years gives the SEC time to see how the market actually develops.
