Conclusion first: Oil surged higher early in the day to squeeze shorts, then fell back to squeeze longs even harder.
At around $89.93, both Binance and OKX show a drop of about 3.2% over the past 24 hours. The highest in the last 24 hours touched 93.1, while the low fell below 88.7. The spread between the high and low is nearly 5%.
The maximum single liquidation is $90.92. A long position with a size of $9.1 million was liquidated. At this level, the price had already pulled back from the 93 zone by a certain margin, yet there are still plenty of those who couldn’t hold on. In the latest batch of large liquidation samples, the total amount liquidated from longs is more than four times that of shorts. Binance and Hyperliquid combined account for 95% of the total, while OKX accounts for only a small portion.
Kill the shorts first, then kill the longs—this back-and-forth rhythm. Crude oil hasn’t stopped the past two days.
