Grain production in Argentina could reach a record level of 157.9 million tons in the 2026/27 season thanks to higher soybean and corn yields, the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange said on Tuesday.
The exchange forecasts that soybean production will rise to 53.6 million metric tons from 50.1 million tons in the 2025/26 season. Corn production is expected to increase to 66 million tons from 64 million tons in the previous cycle.
Argentina is the world’s largest exporter of soybean oil and meal, and ranks third among global corn exporters.
“We have completed the largest harvest in our history, and today we see the potential to achieve similar figures again,” said Ramiro Costa, the exchange’s CEO.
Costa noted that the forecast depends on weather conditions and production decisions in the coming months.
The exchange said that wheat production in 2026/27 will fall to 23.4 million tons from 27.8 million tons in the previous season. Argentina is one of the world’s largest wheat suppliers.
Earlier this month, the Rosario grain exchange estimated the country’s soybean crop for the 2026/27 season at 47.8 million tons and corn at up to 70.5 million tons.
