Starlink Gen 3 is starting to look less like a satellite network and more like an AI data center in orbit 🛰️
SpaceX's FCC application for up to 100,000 Gen 3 satellites has entered formal review. Elon says each satellite could deliver around 10 Tbps, with a path to 100+ Tbps, while running at roughly 250 kW.
The biggest twist? Onboard compute.
Gen 3 could include a SpaceX-designed NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 computer, which blurs the line between communications satellite and orbital AI infrastructure.
Add Starship, faster terminals, direct-to-phone ambitions, and SpaceX's push toward massive orbital compute... Starlink may be evolving into something much bigger than global internet.
This is a massive tailwind for $NVDA. SpaceX is essentially building AI compute in space, and NVIDIA is powering it. If Gen 3 scales to 100,000 satellites with onboard AI chips, that's a monster new TAM for NVIDIA hardware.
Watch $NVDA on any Starlink Gen 3 updates or orbital compute news. This is the kind of asymmetric catalyst that doesn't show up in consensus estimates yet.
