What kills short sellers the hardest isn’t the old, established big exchanges.
In the past 24 hours, new exchange Lighter had a liquidation of $7.98 million, with 85% of the positions liquidated being longs? No—85% were cutting shorts. On the same leaderboard, Binance is only at 72%.
Another new exchange with the same script as Aster: a $7.05 million liquidation wipeout, with 70% being short sellers. Combined, the two exchanges total $15 million, enough to reach 60% of Bitget’s volume.
In one day, $635 million was wiped out across the whole network, and 69% were originally short sellers. When the market is pushed upward in one direction, anyone chasing shorts can’t dodge this knife no matter which exchange they switch to.
