On September 21, Binance News reported that MultiversX plans to carry out a coordinated hard fork starting from a known, healthy checkpoint. The recovery process includes training for validators on testnet and devnet before restarting mainnet. It was noted that the code has been published, while testing is still ongoing.
The guidance mentioned indicates that users are advised to avoid sending or rebroadcasting transactions, or transferring EGLD/ESDT via exchanges or bridges until the recovery is officially confirmed. Services are expected to resume gradually.
Recovery is still only a plan under testing. As of September 21, when checked, the official MultiversX status page was still showing performance degradation across several services, including wallets, bridges, and xExchange.
My take: Reliable recovery should clarify what changed, how the balances were verified, and what guarantees address the root cause of the outage.
