Apple and Google Recruit Stablecoin-Related Talent to Explore New Payment and Financial Business Lines

September 21—According to market sources, Apple and Google have recently been hiring professionals with expertise in stablecoins and tokenized deposits to fill vacancies in finance and payments.

Both companies are assessing the possibility of integrating digital asset infrastructure into their own financial and payment businesses. However, there is currently no indication that they plan to issue their own stablecoin, nor have they announced any specific launch products.

Specifically, Apple published a job posting in the United States on August 26 for the role of "Head of Financial Product Strategy for Apple Pay." The position will be responsible for setting the mid- to long-term strategy for financial services such as Apple Card and Apple Cash, and for exploring new areas for business growth.

In terms of job requirements, Apple explicitly lists knowledge of stablecoins, tokenized deposits, and blockchain technology as priority considerations. The selected candidate will collaborate with product teams related to Apple Pay to help implement the business strategy.

Google’s hiring focus, meanwhile, leans more toward institutional-grade digital asset infrastructure. The company posted a "Chief Architect for the Web3 Industry" position in Hong Kong, with the primary goal of supporting Google Cloud’s development of Web3 and digital asset businesses in the Asia-Pacific region.

For professional requirements, the role also prioritizes knowledge of RWA tokenization, stablecoin payment networks, tokenized deposits, and digital asset custody—showing Google’s high level of attention to institutional digital asset services.

Apple is considering how to apply stablecoin technology to consumer financial services such as Apple Pay, Apple Card, and Apple Cash. Google, on the other hand, is more focused on cloud and infrastructure services for financial institutions and digital asset companies.

In fact, prior to both of them, Samsung Electronics’ U.S. branch had already listed stablecoins alongside card networks and fintech companies as potential payment collaboration directions when recruiting for a Samsung Wallet payments business development manager;

Now, Apple and Google’s hiring efforts are sending similar signals, indicating that stablecoins are gradually moving from internal topics within the crypto industry into the mainstream technology companies’ payment strategy spotlight.

That said, based on hiring information alone, it is still not enough to determine whether Apple or Google is preparing to issue its own stablecoin or roll out specific services. In what form it ultimately comes to fruition remains to be seen.
