The Houthis fired missiles toward Riyadh; Saudi Aramco’s storage tanks burned. Saudi air defenses have nearly run out of interceptors, and unusually, Saudi Arabia has asked Israel for help. Trump left Camp David a day early and rushed back to the White House, and the State Department issued a Middle East travel advisory. On the other side, Ukrainian drones also bombed a refinery on the outskirts of Moscow.
The energy front is also fanning the flames: the House passed a bill that would impose up to a 100% tariff on big buyers of Russian oil, and some senators are calling to ban diesel exports. If oil prices keep rising, inflation expectations have to come back.
