Here’s what you need to know about this development:
According to the State Securities Commission (SSC), the new regulatory framework for crypto assets is largely based on recommendations from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and the European Union.
Remember, the text states that the document’s focus will be on combating money laundering and other financial crimes, and ensuring the safety of investors’ assets. Also, Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Finance met with officials from Austria’s Financial Market Authority (FMA).
Both sides exchanged views on regulatory cooperation in the finance sector, and the two countries are expected to soon develop a joint action plan in finance. By moving beyond the preparation phase and setting a specific date for the law’s implementation, Vietnam is taking steps to bring the cryptocurrency industry under a legal framework.
