🚨Puzzle: 7,777 Bitcoin in El Salvador

🇸🇻 El Salvador has just reached 7,777 BTC — but the number isn’t the whole story.
New reports spotted today estimate the El Salvador government’s Bitcoin holdings at 7,777 BTC, worth roughly $594 million at the mentioned market price.
With an average cost of about $55,718 per BTC, that implies unrealized gains of approximately $162 million.
But here’s the interesting part. 👀
Today’s trending headline says that El Salvador has continued its 1 BTC per day strategy for 916 days.
The IMF’s latest review adds an important qualifier:
It says that the documents submitted by the Salvadoran authorities confirmed that the Bitcoin accumulated since the first IMF review came from private donations — without using public resources.
So we shouldn’t automatically equate:
“7,777 BTC in government-held, controlled holdings”
with
“7,777 BTC bought with government money.”
These are different claims.
The IMF also says it does not expect further accumulation after the documented donations, while the IMF statement did not publicly disclose the identities of those private donors or the total amount.
