Amazon’s deal with Generac isn’t a normal purchase order.

The first batch of backup generators is about $2.4 billion, scheduled for delivery in 2027–2028; the whole order can be rolled up to $8 billion. On top of that, there’s also a bundle of stock warrants—about 1.69 million shares, with an exercise price of around $201, with the longest tie-in extending to 2033.

When the news broke, Generac surged more than 40% after hours. What AI is short of isn’t just compute power anymore—it’s electricity; major companies are starting to lock suppliers in first using equity.
