I’ll say it clearly: I don’t think the Fed hikes tomorrow.
A lot of Wall Street banks are suddenly “predicting” another hike, but I’m not convinced. When everyone is told to cut risk at the same time, that can also create the perfect setup for bigger players to buy the weakness.
Look at the latest U.S. inflation
💥August 2026 core CPI: +0.3% MoM
💥Core CPI: +2.4% YoY Headline
💥CPI: +0.4% MoM, +3.4% YoY
💥Next CPI release: expected October 14, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. ET
The key point is simple: underlying inflation is running around 2.4% YoY, while monthly core inflation is still rising at 0.3%.
At the same time, global oil inventories are building. If crude rolls over later, energy inflation could cool quickly and reduce the pressure for further tightening.
That’s why I see the current move as partly a positioning squeeze — forcing traders to reduce exposure and putting pressure on the Fed narrative.
And remember, Fed Chair Kevin Warsh has talked about shrinking the balance sheet while pushing rates lower. If that remains the direction, then the market may be overpricing the hawkish scenario.
For names like $SNDK and $SKHYNIX , that matters a lot.
If rate fears cool and AI/memory demand stays strong, these could become some of the cleaner tech rebound trades to watch.
