🛡️ Zcash Gains Nearly 6% While Major Cryptocurrencies Retreat
$ZEC stood out during a difficult session for the broader crypto market.
CoinDesk reported that Zcash rose nearly 6% to just above $1,200 during European morning trading on September 16, while Bitcoin, Ether and XRP were lower. That makes this a dated market snapshot.
The move preceded the Fed’s decision later that day to raise rates by 25 basis points to 3.75%–4.00%. Assessing how $ZEC performs after that decision is a separate test.
What interests me is whether Zcash can keep its lead as market conditions change.
Rising while major assets fall shows relative strength during that window. Establishing durable demand requires more evidence: sustained spot activity, buyers absorbing pullbacks and gains that survive subsequent sessions.
I would also compare ZEC’s performance against Bitcoin. A dollar-price increase can become less informative when the entire market rebounds; continued strength against BTC would add another useful signal.
The percentage headline alone cannot establish whether fresh buying, short covering or temporary positioning drove the move. Those explanations require trading and derivatives data.
For now, ZEC’s divergence deserves attention, with the durability of that strength still to be tested.
What would make this move convincing to you: stronger volume or sustained outperformance?
