HiTHIUM moves sodium-ion storage closer to grid-scale commercialization
🔋 HiTHIUM has unveiled its ∞Power N4.0MWh sodium-ion energy storage system, powered by the new 785 Ah N785Ah cell, nearly five times the capacity of the N162Ah cell introduced in late 2024.
⚡ According to the company, the new cell can deliver 20,000 cycles and support 2–8 hours of discharge. The 4 MWh system uses a stacked architecture that reduces site footprint by around 30% and supports PCS voltages from 800–1,500 V.
🏭 A notable feature is that the N785Ah cell can be produced on existing 1,000 Ah LFP production lines, reducing the need for entirely new manufacturing capacity. HiTHIUM plans to begin large-scale production and deliveries in 2027.
🔎 Sodium-ion is being positioned as a complement to LFP for longer-duration energy storage. However, claims of 20,000 cycles, a 30-year design life and LCOS of RMB 0.1/kWh will still need to be validated through commercial operation.
