🇺🇸 Fed Chair Kevin Warsh was asked whether Trump’s pressure for lower interest rates is threatening the Fed’s independence.

He didn’t answer whether he had recently spoken with Trump.

Instead, Warsh drew a pretty clear line:

“Part of the independence of the Federal Reserve is we stay in our lane. Independence is a two-way street.”

Basically, the Fed won’t tell the White House how to run trade or government spending, and Warsh expects the same distance when the Fed sets interest rates.

I wouldn't like to be in earshot of Trump's rants right now
