GOLD TRADES ON BINANCE AND ON WEEKENDS. BUT AT THIS MOMENT THE PRICE IS CALCULATED DIFFERENTLY
Since September 15, Binance has updated the regime for commodity-based TradFi perpetuals.
This includes XAUUSDT, XAGUSDT, COPPERUSDT, CLUSDT, NATGASUSDT, and others.
What’s most interesting to me isn’t the chart itself, but what happens to the Price Index.
During a regular trading session, from Sunday 18:00 ET to Friday 17:00 ET, the standard mode is used:
the index is updated every second based on prices from external data providers.
And on weekends and holidays, the mechanism changes to Orderbook EWMA.
That means the very same XAUUSDT may remain tradable, but the source that forms its index price depends on whether the underlying TradFi market is operating.
For me, this is a great example of why "24/7 access" doesn’t mean "the same market 24/7".
Before placing a trade, it’s important to know not only the price.
It’s important to understand where it’s coming from right now.
