ARB goes against the trend and strengthens

On September 16, the Layer 2 sector overall fell by about 4%, yet $ARB recorded a gain of roughly 10%–13%, becoming one of the few mainstream Layer 2 performers that held up as the broader market pulled back. In the same period, first-layer networks such as Solana and Injective were relatively weak. The capital flow looks more like relative rotation within Layer 2 rather than a broad risk-on recovery.

A daily top performer is often seen either from short covering after positioning gets crowded, or from a mismatch between ecosystem activities, token unlocks, and governance expectations. It cannot, by itself, prove that Layer 2 fees and active addresses have already moved to a higher level. Legislative failure and rate-hike pricing still weigh on the main track; rebounds in high-beta assets often come first—and also leave first.

To go against the trend, you need to ask where the trading volume comes from. Only a rebound with volume can indicate follow-through; one without volume is more like squeezing positions.
