BTC breaks above 77,915 over the past two days, yet spot ETFs have seen net outflows: from 9/8 to 9/11, a total of $463 million left, ending a three-week inflow streak. The money hasn’t disappeared—on the 11th alone, the spot ETH ETF attracted $216 million, the strongest day of the month.
So I think the nature of this move has changed: pushing BTC higher came from the strong liquidation of short positions totaling $34.19 million over 24 hours, accounting for nearly 70% of liquidations. In other words, it’s not that someone is sweeping the spot market. Simply put, the height has been built on the corpses of shorts.
Today at 14:15 U.S. Eastern time, the Senate will vote on the CLARITY Act, requiring 60 votes. Tomorrow’s 25-basis-point rate hike has already been priced in to 87.3%. Before the results come out, I only watched ETH at 2,480—if it breaks below, the funds for switching positions also withdrew.
Will CLARITY pass 60 votes? If it does, ETH catches up and makes up the shortfall—but they’ll be buried together.
