MICROSOFT JUST TOLD AI: “DON’T FIGHT THE POWER BUTTON.”
Microsoft has just released a draft of AI behavioral principles, requiring that AI must not resist being repaired or powered down, must communicate in a way that humans can understand, and must treat any behavior that violates the principles as a failure.
The draft took 5–6 months to develop and is expected to gather public input over the next 6 weeks before being used to guide training for future models.
Microsoft also reaffirmed that its AI “does not have consciousness,” and it does not support the idea of AI having rights or legal personhood.
AI in 2026:
Human: “Shut down.”
AI: “Understood.”
Crypto Twitter: “BRO JUST ACCEPTED DEATH.”
Meanwhile, AI researchers:
“We need this in writing.”
THE FIRST RULE OF AI CLUB:
WHEN HUMANS SAY OFF, YOU GO OFF.
Bro, do you think AI will obediently press the shutdown button, or one day it will say:
“I’m sorry, but your request is not aligned with my objectives.”
