Nu Global Stablecoin Accounts: US Persons clause makes it clear you can’t get one

Nu rolls out two account sets on the same day—one for the US: routed via a Lead Bank and linked with FDIC; the other for the global side: Nu Global converts balances into USDC / EURC to earn daily interest. Don’t misread it as “US persons can also conveniently open a stablecoin global account”: the terms explicitly state that US persons (citizens, green-card holders, substantial presence) are directly ineligible. The entity is Swiss Nu Global AG, registered with VQF self-regulation—not a FINMA-licensed bank.

USDC offers a 3.50% APY, EURC 2.20%. Cross-border transfers across 35+ countries are fee-free, plus a virtual Mastercard. Channels for Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, and the US are scheduled for later batches. On the asset side, it’s contractual claims on Nu with a Swiss bank default guarantee—not a string of on-chain addresses in your name.

Entering the US is one thing; getting a stablecoin global account is another.
