Gold Market Analysis and Interpretation:
Gold at the daily chart level: Yesterday, it remained under pressure from the 10-day moving average line; it rose and then fell back. Although late in the session, due to the U.S. launching its second round of attacks on Iraq, it caused a spike that then reversed into a bearish close, today it has continued rebounding and returned to the vicinity of the opening break point from last night. It is still caught in a choppy range of rise-and-fall back and forth. As long as it continues to hold above the 618 retracement level of the first wave of the small five-wave advance—i.e., above 4369—then by using time to let the corresponding MACD gradually slow down and move closer to the zero axis, it will gradually wear down the momentum of near-term bearish positions. Ultimately, it can then gather strength for a long bias near the zero axis. If upward price action is strong enough to close above the 10-day moving average, that will be the start of the push—so be patient and wait. Tonight at 23:00, watch for the U.S. Treasury Department to announce the maximum amount for 10-year and 20-year Treasury repo programs. If the figure is announced as higher than the forecast by more than 4 billion, that will be bullish for gold.
Gold in the evening continues to be suitable for going long below 4385.
If it pushes up to the 4406--4432 range, you can consider shorting.
