Registration itself only takes three minutes: enter an email, receive a verification code once, set a password, and your account is created. What really tends to get people stuck is the next screen—face recognition. Turn your head, blink, do it seven or eight times, but it still prompts a retry, and people start to doubt whether they just can’t register.
In ten tries, eight times it’s the same reason: sitting in front of a window with backlighting, so the whole face is dark; otherwise it’s that the glasses weren’t removed. Change your position and you’ll pass in five seconds.
Go through the process in the correct real order, write in detail about both registration and real-name verification, and explain the face-recognition screen separately.
🧾【What should I prepare before registering?】
Three things—if you’re missing any one of them, it will stop mid-way.
▸ An email address or phone number where you can receive messages: for email, it’s recommended to use common domains like Gmail or Outlook. Self-hosted domains and niche email providers are most likely to not receive codes. +86 phone numbers are supported in the SMS verification country list. In the table, the two-digit prefix for China is CN, and the area code 86 are listed there.
▸ Your valid personal documents: passport, ID card, or driver’s license. For most people, any of these three works. The exact options depend on what’s actually shown on the 【Identity Verification】 page.
▸ A stable network and a working camera: the face verification step takes live photos. If the network drops mid-way, you’ll have to start over.
📝【How to open a Binance account?】
Opening an account from the web signup is the easiest way—complete the five steps and you’ll have an account.
Openhttps://www.binance.com/zh-CN/join?ref=WIN98. The first screen is very clean: only one 「Email/Phone Number」 input field and a 【Register】 button. Below are three options: 【Continue with Google】【Continue with Apple】【Continue with Telegram】. ⚠️ There is no place to fill in an invite code on this screen—don’t look for it here. It’s on the next part.
Enter your email or phone number, click 【Register】, and go retrieve the verification code. The code is 6 digits and valid for 30 minutes. If it expires, just request a new one.
Set your password. The rules are: at least 8 characters, including at least 1 uppercase letter and 1 number. If you go through 【Continue with Apple】 or 【Continue with Google】, you don’t have this step—the system won’t let you create a password; it goes straight to confirmation and you’re in.
Choose account type: personal or business. 📌 This cannot be changed after registration. Also, once an email has been used to bind a personal account, you can’t use it again to apply for business verification—think it through before selecting.
After the account is created, there will be a screen asking whether you were invited by someone. Choose 【Yes】, and only then will the invite code input box appear. The invite code to enter is WIN98, with an 8% discount on fees. If you came in via the link above, it usually gets auto-filled; next to it you’ll see a green checkmark and 【Bound】. Just verify that the code in the box is correct. ⚠️ The invite code cannot be modified after it’s bound to the account. Once the invitation relationship is established, it also can’t be changed or unbound.
By this step, your account already exists, but you still can’t deposit or trade. Continue with identity verification.
🪪【How many steps does it take to complete identity verification?】
The entry path is 【Account】 → 【Identity Verification】 → 【Start Verification】. The whole chain is 「Choose region → Upload documents → Verify face → Wait for results」。
Step one requires choosing three items: country/region of residence, country/region that issued your ID, and type of document. Choosing the wrong issuing location is the most common reason for rejection—pick the country/region that issued your ID. It has nothing to do with where you are now.
Upload according to the selected document type. For an ID card, you need to upload both the front and back. All four corners must be inside the frame. Glare, cropping, or reshooting photos of a screen will all be rejected.
After uploading, click 【Continue】 to enter face verification.
After submission, wait for the result. Verification is divided into three tiers: basic, advanced, and business. The business tier is for institutions. New personal users should pass the basic tier first.
📌 Why it’s non-negotiable: once verified, you can unlock deposit, withdrawal, and trading limits. If you keep delaying verification, your account will be switched to a 「Withdrawals only」 mode—you can only withdraw, cancel orders, redeem, and close positions. You can’t buy or trade.
⚠️ The information you enter must match your documents exactly—every single character. Binance’s terms explicitly require this: all documents and information you submit must be real, accurate, complete, and up to date. One extra space in your name, or being off by one day in your birthdate, will send you to manual review—and you’ll wait several times longer.
📸【How can I pass face verification in one try?】
First figure out what it’s doing: face verification uses your live facial image to compare it with the ID photo you submitted during identity verification. It’s not taking a selfie—it needs to match the person on the ID. This screen can’t be deleted and can’t be skipped.
Before you start, get these six things done—your chance of passing in one try will increase:
Lighting: Stand somewhere with strong, sufficient light; avoid harsh backlighting and don’t let your face have shadows. Backlighting in front of a window is the highest-failure scenario—there’s no exception.
Background: find a simple, neat background. A cluttered background can interfere with the system’s recognition.
Camera: wipe the lens. Fingerprints and oil smudges will blur the entire picture.
Face: remove your hat, glasses, mask, and anything that covers your face.
Stability: hold the device at about eye level, and don’t shake during the verification.
Movement: when the screen asks you to turn your head slowly, turn slowly. When it asks you to blink, blink. Don’t move early before the prompt.
⚠️ Anyone doing face verification must be the account owner themselves. If you use someone else’s face or someone else’s documents to pass verification, no one can fix it if anything goes wrong with this account later.
If you keep failing, it’s basically because of these five reasons:
▸ Insufficient lighting
▸ The device camera’s resolution is too low
▸ Wearing glasses, a hat, or a mask
▸ Your ID photo looks clearly different from how you look now (ID photos taken 10 years ago are the easiest to fail)
▸ Using someone else’s face or documents
📌 If you’ve tried all six options and still can’t pass, don’t keep forcing it—go straight to manual support: on the web, click the 【Binance Customer Service】 icon at the bottom-right of the page; in the app, tap the 【Customer Service】 icon on the home screen. After the bot suggests topics, tap 【Contact customer service】 → 【Yes, please transfer to customer service】. Send your user ID and a screenshot of the error, and explain which screen you got stuck on. Your user ID is in the app’s top-left under 【Account Center】—the string of numbers above your nickname. The nickname can be changed, but that number can’t.
By the way, the entry for face verification settings is in 【Account Settings】. On iOS, that section is called 【Face ID & Passcode】; on Android, it’s called 【Face Unlock】.
📄【What files are needed for address proof?】
In Mainland China, sending just ID proof is enough—address proof is not needed.
Identity verification actually requires submitting two things: ID proof (POI) and address proof (POA). Your documents are the former, and your bills/statements are the latter. For address proof: 【Personal Profile】 → 【Account】 → 【Identity Verification】 → 【Enable Advanced Identity Verification】. On the app it’s: 【Account Center】 → 【Personal Profile】 → 【Identity Verification】 → 【Enable Advanced Identity Verification】. If you need to resubmit, tap 【Edit Address Proof】.
▸ Acceptable: water and electricity bills, broadband/TV/telecom bundle statements, bank or investment account statements/reconciliation, bank credit reference documents stamped or signed, official government letters, lease agreement registration proof, local government-issued proof of residence, and home insurance proof.
▸ Usually rejected: separate mobile phone bills, retail store credit card statements, payslips and employment contracts, streaming service statements, medical bills, forwarded mail or virtual office address, and documents sent to a postal mailbox.
▸ The file must be issued in your own name, and the name must match your account’s real-name information. Most countries/regions only accept documents issued within the last 6 months.
▸ Review takes 1–2 business days. Results are sent to you by email notification—no need to chase customer service.
📱【Where do I get the app install package?】
Android: download the official installer directly: https://download.binance.com/pack/BNApp_F0001674.apk . iPhone: in the App Store, search Binance using an Apple ID from outside Mainland China and outside the US region. For both Windows and Mac there are clients—if you don’t want to install, just use the web version; all features are available.
▸ After installation, it’s login—not re-registration. The first screen on the login page looks almost identical to the first screen on the registration page: the same 「Email/Phone Number」 field plus the same three third-party buttons. The only difference is the top title and the bottom line: on the registration page it says 「Welcome to Binance」 and 「Create a business account or log in」; on the login page it says 「Log in」 and 「Create a Binance account」. If you read that line wrong, you’ll open the second account, and the invite code only binds during the account opening step.
▸ If you can’t be bothered typing your password on your phone: on the web login page, tap the QR code icon on the top-right. Use the app’s scan function to scan it. The app will pop up a confirmation message—tap 【Confirm login】. The prerequisite is that this account has already been logged in on the phone.
🔒【Which two switches should I enable after verification?】
Once verification passes, spend five minutes enabling these two switches first. When something really happens to your account, what can block it is these two.
▸ Two-factor authentication: 【Account】 → 【Account Security】 → next to 【Authenticator App】, tap 【Manage】 → scan the QR code or tap 【Enter setup key】 → enter the 6-digit verification code. ⚠️ After changing the authenticator, withdrawals and C2C trading will be disabled for 24 hours. So handle this before switching phones—don’t do it after you’ve changed.
▸ Anti-phishing code: 【Personal Profile】 → 【Account】 → 【Account Security】 → 【Advanced Security Settings】 → 【Anti-phishing Code】 → 【Enable】 → 【Create】 → 【Submit】. Use 6 to 8 characters: at least three of the following categories—uppercase/lowercase letters, numbers, and underscores. Once set, every email and SMS Binance sends you will include this code. If it’s missing or doesn’t match, it’s phishing. Few guides mention this, but it’s the easiest way to verify whether an email is really from Binance.
❓【Frequently Asked Questions】
Q1: How many steps does it take to register with Binance?
A: Enter your email or phone number, get the verification code, set your password, choose account type, and bind the invite code—five steps and your account is ready. After that, you need to complete identity verification to trade. The real time cost is verification, not registration.
Q2: Can a Mainland China ID pass identity verification?
A: Yes. Select the correct 「Country/Region that issued your ID」 in the first step, take clear photos of both sides of the ID card, and prepare your face according to the six rules above—then it’s the standard process.
Q3: Can I register with a +86 phone number?
A: Yes. CN and 86 are in Binance’s supported country/region list for SMS verification. If you can’t receive codes due to poor signal, switch to a voice verification code or just register with email.
Q4: What should I do if I can’t receive the verification code?
A: Check in this order for emails—did you log into the wrong email address, was the email you entered during registration wrong, is it in the spam folder, is the mailbox full, and is the email service provider functioning normally? If you still can’t receive it, switch to an email with a common domain like Gmail or Outlook. For SMS not received: first check signal, then turn off any call/message blocking apps on your phone, restart once, or switch directly to a voice verification code.
Q5: If face verification keeps failing, can I register a new account?
A: Don’t. Opening a new account won’t solve the face verification problem (it’s still matching the same face and the same set of documents). Instead, you’ll create another unusable account, and switching emails repeatedly is also limited. Prepare according to the six rules first—if it still doesn’t work, find manual customer support.
Q6: How long does实名 review take?
A: For the document step, Binance doesn’t provide a single standardized time window. If it’s fast, you’ll get results shortly after submission; if you reach manual review, it takes longer. Address proof is clearly defined as 1–2 business days.
Q7: I entered the wrong email during registration—can I change it?
A: Yes. Go 【Personal Profile】 → 【Account】 → 【Account Security】 → 【Email】 → 【Manage】 → tap the edit icon. The old email will receive a code first, then you enter the new email and receive another code. ⚠️ Know these two limitations: after you change it, withdrawals, internal transfers, and C2C trades will be disabled for up to 48 hours. The old email cannot be used to register again within 30 days. So trying to bypass anything by 「deleting the account and reopening with a different email」 is blocked—this route won’t work.
Q8: Where can I download the Binance app?
A: On Android, install the official package: https://download.binance.com/pack/BNApp_F0001674.apk. On iPhone, use a non-Mainland China and non-US-region Apple ID to search for Binance in the App Store. ⚠️ Before reinstalling the app, go to 【Personal Profile】 → 【Account】 → 【Account Security】 → 【Passkey】 and turn off 【Disable important scenarios must use Passkey for verification】. Otherwise, after reinstalling you might not be able to log back in.
✅【Final three reminders】
Back up the password and the 2FA backup key—write them down on paper and keep them safe. Don’t store them only on one phone. If you lose your phone, you lose both at the same time, and the recovery process will be very long.
Binance’s official customer service will not call you. Online customer service is the only way to communicate. Any unsolicited call or any proactive addition of you by a 「Binance staff member」 is fake.
Account type, invite code, and email each have irreversible parts. Spend an extra two minutes checking on the day you open the account—it’s worth it compared to messing with it for a week later.
Which screen you got stuck on—please leave a comment stating which step it is and what exact wording is shown on the screen. I’ll check where the issue is.
