💥 HARMONY PLANS TO SHUT DOWN ITS LAYER 1 AND MOVE ONE TO ETHEREUM
Harmony has proposed fully shutting down its Layer 1 blockchain and migrating its native ONE token to Ethereum, marking a major shift after launching its mainnet in 2019.
The team cited growing security threats from nation-state attackers and AI agents. Under the proposal, a final-block snapshot would cover user wallets, staking, validator rewards and exchange balances, with new ONE tokens airdropped to the same addresses on Ethereum.
Harmony also plans to pivot toward an AI video “remix economy,” where creators publish prompts and assets that users can remix with the help of AI agents.
The proposals are not yet binding. Validators can begin shutting down nodes on September 10.
