BNB Smart Chain is set to reserve a "protected lane" for payment transactions: during congestion, a minimum block gas will be reserved, with launch planned for Q4 2026.

According to the official BNB Chain blog (2026-09-01): Payment Lane only guarantees a lower bound on the total gas for payment-related transactions during congestion (a floor, not a ceiling); when the network is idle, it does not change fee rates or block rewards. Transaction ordering, DEX swaps, and MEV logic remain unchanged. The transactions counted as payments fall into three categories — native BNB transfers, USDT/USDC, and audited tokens approved by governance. The blog also notes that payment-related transactions appear in about 99.6% of BSC blocks, but can still be crowded out during peak periods. Before launch, parameters such as reserved capacity, congestion thresholds, and adjustment speed must first go through validator governance voting.

Independent verification: Blockchain.News reported the same points — Q4 2026 launch, dynamic floor, scope of application, and "no change to ordering / MEV" — consistent with the official site.
