The intraday trend is steady. $BMNR has risen 1.56% over the past 24 hours, trading at $25.32. One notable signal is that its perpetual contract funding rate is exactly 0, meaning neither longs nor shorts need to pay the other side.

My view is that $BMNR is currently in a short-term equilibrium, but this balance is very fragile.

A funding rate of zero is a classic sign of a trend stalling. The price has risen modestly, but funding has not followed into positive territory, which suggests the move has not triggered aggressive FOMO from longs. With volume at 3.1 million and open interest at 550,000, and given the zero funding rate, the market looks more like both sides are waiting on the sidelines, with holding costs remaining neutral. In this structure, price fluctuations lack an internal leveraged-funds driver, and both upside and downside moves are more likely to be driven by marginal spot-market trading.

The strongest counterargument is that this equilibrium could be broken quickly. If a clear bullish or bearish catalyst appears, even a small price move could trigger a rapid shift in funding rates, attracting trend traders and turning the current balance into a one-sided move. For example, if price breaks out of the recent consolidation range with volume, funding will likely turn positive from zero, creating a positive feedback loop through short covering and increased long exposure.

From a second-order impact perspective, holders are currently in a no-cost standoff. Once direction is decided, the side forced to stop out will provide liquidity for the other side, amplifying the one-way move. At present, neither longs nor shorts has any extra holding profit or cost, which makes either side more likely to adjust positions in response to even small price changes.

I will not open a position proactively for now. I will wait for two clear signals: first, a volume-backed break above around 25.80, with funding turning positive, in which case I would consider a small test long as evidence that bulls are taking control; second, a drop below 24.80 with funding turning negative, which would indicate strengthening bearish pressure. If price remains range-bound between 24.80 and 25.80 over the next 48 hours, I will continue to wait.

Many people may expect a catalyst to break the calm, but I believe the calm itself is the risk. The real catalyst may not be some external news, but loosening open interest itself.
