Throughout the entire registration process, you only need to do three entries and one selection: email, verification code, password, and finally the system asks you, "Do you have an inviter?" The rest of the time is spent waiting—waiting for the verification code, waiting for approval.
For first-time users, getting stuck usually isn’t about difficulty—it’s about wondering, "Did I do something wrong on this screen?" So this article won’t cover background knowledge; instead, it will walk through the process in the order a new user opens an account for the first time: what you’ll see at each step, where to tap, and which words are the official wording.
🗺️ 【How many steps does the official account opening process have?】
The official Binance beginner guide breaks this into four steps:
Step 1: Register a Binance account
Step 2: Complete identity verification
Step 3: Buy / deposit cryptocurrency
Step 4: Start trading
✅ Official wording: "You can register a Binance account using an email address, phone number, or Apple/Google account on the Binance App or web version."
✅ Official wording: "Once you complete identity verification for your Binance account, you can unlock deposit, withdrawal, and trading limits"
📌 This article only covers the first two steps—creating the account and passing verification. Once these two are done, the account is in a "usable" state.
🧾 【What should I prepare before registering?】
Three things: an email address (or phone number) that can receive messages, your own ID document, and a phone that can install the app. Nothing else is needed.
▸ Email: The official advice says, "It is recommended to register a Binance account using an email address from a common domain such as Gmail or Outlook." Company email addresses and niche domains may fail to receive messages.
▸ Phone number: In the official (countries/regions supported for SMS verification) list, there is a line that says 「CN China 86」.
▸ Document: The official wording says, "Most users can choose to verify using a passport, ID card, or driver’s license". The specific available options are subject to what is shown on the 【Identity Verification】 page.
▸ Network: keep it stable. The two verification screens are most likely to fail if the connection drops midway. If it drops, you’ll need to start over.
🖥️ 【Step 1: How do I create an account?】
Opening an account on the web is the most stable option; the app entry point will be explained later.
1. Open the registration page
https://www.binance.com/zh-CN/join?ref=WIN98
2. Check what the first screen looks like
The first screen only has these items: the title 「Welcome to Binance」, an input box for 「Email/phone number」, a 【Register】 button, three third-party entry buttons below it—【Continue with Google】, 【Continue with Apple】, 【Continue with Telegram】—then a bottom line saying 「Create a business account or log in」, and below that, "By creating an account, you agree to Binance’s Privacy Statement."
⚠️ There is no place to enter a referral code on the first screen—none at all. This is normal, and it does not mean the link failed or the page hasn’t loaded yet—the referral code is not on this screen.
⚠️ The first screen of the registration page and the login page look almost identical: the same 「email/phone number」 input box and the same three third-party buttons. The only way to tell them apart is the title at the top and the line at the bottom—the registration page says 「Welcome to Binance」 + 「Create a business account or log in」, while the login page says 「Log In」 + 「Create a Binance account」 + 「Can’t log in?」. Many people later find that "there’s nothing in the account" because they looked at the wrong page here.
3. Decide on the account type
Individual users should choose a personal account; don’t click the 「Register a business account」 option at the bottom of the page.
📌 The account type cannot be changed after registration. The official rules also state a stricter limit: if an email address is already linked to a personal account, it cannot be upgraded to a business account. In other words, if you choose wrong at this step, you can only start over with a different email.
4. Enter your email or phone number and click 【Register Now】
The three paths using third-party accounts differ slightly in the official process:
▸ Apple / Google: Tap the button → log in in the pop-up → official wording: "After logging in, the system will prompt you to confirm" → read the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy → tap 【Confirm】 → "The page will redirect to Binance’s official website" → tap 【Next】 again → account creation successful.
⚠️ There is no 【Create password】 step in the official process. Many people register with Google and then, days later, try to log in on another device with a password only to realize they never set one—not because they forgot, but because they never created it in the first place.
▸ Telegram: Click 【Continue with Telegram】 → in the pop-up click 【Connect】 (the app version labels this button 【Link】) → log in to Telegram → in Telegram, tap 【Confirm】 on the confirmation notification you receive → choose whether to 【Create a new Binance account】 or 【Link an existing Binance account】 → enter email or phone number → one-time verification code → done.
⚠️ If you already have a Binance account, clicking the wrong option in Step 5 will create a second new account.
🔢 【Step 2: How do I get through the verification code and password screens?】
This is the only part of the whole process that truly takes time.
Verification code
✅ Official spec: 6 digits, valid for 30 minutes, then tap 【Submit】.
If you can’t receive the email, the official guide gives six checks—try them in order:
Check whether you are already logged into the email address used to register the Binance account
Check whether the Binance account registration email address is correct
Check the spam folder in your email
Check whether the email client or service provider is operating normally
Check whether the email inbox is full
Register using a standard email domain
The third item is the one most often missed. A safer approach is to add Binance sender addresses to your whitelist in advance: Binance has published a list of sender addresses. Common ones include do-not-reply@binance.com, donotreply@directmail.binance.com, do-not-reply@post.binance.com, and do_not_reply@mailer.binance.com.
⚠️ Remember this official disclaimer as well: "Please note that the email list provided in this article is for reference only. Binance may use other email addresses to send emails." — So this list cannot be used in reverse as the basis for judging authenticity; an address not on the list is not necessarily fake.
The official way to whitelist Gmail is: 【Settings】→【See all settings】→【Filters and Blocked Addresses】→【Create a new filter】→【From】→【Create filter】→ check 【Never send it to spam】→【Create filter】.
Official Outlook path: 【Settings】→【Mail】→【Junk Email】→【Safe Senders and Domains】→【Add】→【Save】.
If you can’t receive SMS, the official guide gives five checks:
Make sure your phone has a stable network signal
Disable antivirus, firewall, and/or call-blocking apps on your phone
Restart your phone
Switch to voice verification code
Reset the phone number for SMS verification
The second and fourth items are the most useful. The various "security managers" and "blocking assistants" installed on phones in mainland China are the number one reason SMS messages don’t arrive; if you still can’t receive them, just tap voice verification and you’ll get a phone call that reads the code to you.
Password
✅ Official rule: at least 8 characters, including at least 1 uppercase letter and 1 number.
After setting it, don’t rush to click आगे. Write the password down somewhere you’ll remember. Binance does not have a channel where customer support helps you change it during password recovery.
✅ 【Step 3: After the account is created, there is one more screen—don’t rush to close it】
📌 After the account is created, the system will ask you one more question: "Do you have a referrer?" Choose 【Yes】, and then the referral code input box will appear.
This is the screen where you enter the code. Many tutorials online say to "expand the folded referral code section on the registration page and enter the code there," but that method is outdated—the first screen of the current registration page doesn’t have that section at all.
On this screen, enter WIN98 and submit.
The official name for this field is 「Referral ID (optional)」. The original wording is: "If you register for Binance through a friend’s invitation, please make sure to fill in the Referral ID."
If you enter via an invitation link in the app, you don’t need to type it manually. Official wording: "If you register a Binance account through an invitation link, the system will automatically fill in the referral code, and a green checkmark icon and 【Bound】 will appear next to it. If the referral code is invalid, you can edit it or enter another referral code." If you don’t have a code, you can tap 【Skip】 directly.
⚠️ Official wording: "Please note that once the invitation code is bound to your account, it cannot be changed." Once you close this screen, there is no second chance.
🪪 【Step 4: How do I complete identity verification?】
Path: 【Account】→【Identity Verification】→【Verify Now】.
The official first step is: "Select your place of residence, the country/region that issued your document, and the document type"—three options in total. Choosing the wrong issuing country/region is the most common reason for rejection. This is about who issued the document, not where you are now.
Upload both the front and back of your ID card, then tap 【Continue】 to enter facial verification. For this step, the official guidance gives three tips: 「Please do not wear a hat/glasses or use filters, and make sure the lighting is sufficient」 「Place your face in the center of the frame」 「Make sure your eyes are open, and the entire face is centered and clearly visible」.
⚠️ What happens if you don’t complete verification? The official announcement is very clear: accounts that have not completed verification will be switched to 「withdrawals only」 mode, meaning you can only withdraw, cancel orders, redeem, and close positions. It’s not that you lose a few features—almost all that’s left is the ability to move funds out.
Verification is divided into Standard Identity Verification / Advanced Identity Verification / Business Verification. New users only need to complete the standard level first. For address verification, the official stated review time is 1–2 business days, and the result will be sent by email, so there’s no need to chase customer service.
📥 【Step 5: Which app package should I install?】
For Android, just use the official package and open this address in your phone browser to download it:
https://download.binance.com/pack/BNApp_F0001674.apk
On the Apple side, the App Store in mainland China won’t show it. Binance has a dedicated article (Guide to Downloading the Binance App on iPhone): two steps: first register an Apple ID for a non-mainland region, then sign in to that ID in the App Store, search for 「Binance」, and tap 【Get】. On the computer download page, Windows is listed; Mac users should open the web version directly, since the features are the same.
📌 After installing the app, choose 【Log In】, not register again. If you go through registration again in the app, you’ll create a second account, and the assets and records of the two accounts will not be connected.
🔐 【Two things to do first after registration】
1. Enable two-factor authentication: 【Account】→【Account Security】→【Authenticator App】 and tap 【Manage】 → scan the QR code or tap 【Enter a setup key】 → enter the 6-digit verification code. ⚠️ Official wording: "To protect account security, withdrawals and C2C trading will be disabled for 24 hours after changing the authenticator." So don’t wait until the day you need the money to set it up.
2. Set an anti-phishing code: The official definition says, "An anti-phishing code is a unique alphanumeric combination you set yourself, which will appear in all emails and SMS messages sent by Binance official channels." Format: 6 to 8 characters, must include at least three of the following categories: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and underscores. The official detection rule says: "If the anti-phishing code you set is not displayed correctly or is missing, it may be a phishing scam and should be reported immediately." Once you set this up, you’ll be able to spot fake Binance emails at a glance.
❓ 【Common Questions for New User Registration】
Q: How many steps are there in Binance registration?
A: The official beginner guide breaks it into four steps, but the real "account opening" only includes the first two—registering the account and completing identity verification. The first step takes about 5 minutes; the second depends on verification review.
Q: Can mainland China ID cards pass real-name verification?
A: Yes.
Q: Can I register with a +86 phone number?
A: Yes. The official (countries/regions supported for SMS verification) list includes 「CN China 86」. If you can’t receive SMS, use voice verification code first.
Q: How long does registration review take?
A: The account itself is created instantly; once you enter the verification code and password, it’s ready. Binance has not published a unified time for identity verification, and the only clearly stated timeframe is for address verification, which is 1–2 business days. Don’t believe claims like "it will definitely pass in a few minutes."
Q: What should I do if I don’t receive the verification code?
A: First check the spam folder for email, then confirm the inbox isn’t full and the registration email address was entered correctly; for SMS, first disable blocking apps and restart the phone, and if that still doesn’t work, tap voice verification. The verification code itself is 6 digits and valid for 30 minutes; if it expires, request a new one.
Q: Can I change the email if I entered it wrong?
A: Yes, but there’s a cost. The path is 【Profile】→【Account】→【Account Security】→【Email】→【Manage】→【Edit】, and both the old and new email addresses will receive a code. The official restrictions are twofold: after changing the email address, withdrawals, internal transfers, and C2C trading will be disabled for up to 48 hours; the old email address cannot be used to register again for 30 days. So the "delete the account and reopen it with a new email" route doesn’t work.
Q: How do I tell the registration page and the login page apart?
A: Look at the title at the top and the line at the bottom. The registration page says 「Welcome to Binance」 + 「Create a business account or log in」; the login page says 「Log In」 + 「Create a Binance account」 + 「Can’t log in?」. The input box in the middle and the three third-party buttons are exactly the same on both pages, so you can’t tell them apart just by looking at the center.
Q: Where can I download the Android app?
A: Use the official direct download link for the package https://download.binance.com/pack/BNApp_F0001674.apk and open it in your phone browser to download; the 「Android Download」 button on the official download page uses the same link. Do not download the package from third-party software sites.
⚠️ 【Three reminders】
Store your password and your two-factor authentication backup code separately; don’t keep them in the same note on the same phone. If you lose your phone, you lose both, and the account may be unrecoverable.
Official wording: "Binance’s official customer service will not contact users by phone; online customer service is the only communication tool Binance uses to contact users." Hang up immediately on anyone who calls claiming to be Binance support.
Binance Authenticator is Binance’s own separate app. Download it from the official download page—don’t search for similarly named apps in the app store.
Tell me which screen you got stuck on when opening your account for the first time, and paste the title at the top of that screen in the comments. I’ll tell you exactly what to tap next.
