The old dog glanced at the on-chain TradFi perpetual contract. The funding rate on $COHR showed 0.00000000, and that number is more interesting than its 24-hour gain of 5.456%. In standard crypto perpetual contracts, the funding rate is either positive or negative, and it rarely sits exactly at zero. This means that both the long and short sides in the market have no need to pay extra to borrow direction from each other. In simple terms, the longs and shorts have reached a subtle, temporary balance here.

This balance appears at a moment when BTC is volatile and crypto-linked stocks like COIN/MSTR are swinging wildly, which makes it noteworthy. Normally, when trading TradFi assets on-chain, funding tends to anchor to U.S. stock financing costs or implied directional expectations. Now, this zero funding rate, combined with $COHR 's semiconductor-sector characteristics, tells me it is reflecting neither bullish nor bearish sentiment. Instead, it suggests that market expectations for whether "COHR-like traditional semiconductor stocks will still move in violent sync with BTC" are fading to zero. Traders are pricing in that, in the next move, the pull from crypto-market volatility on $COHR will weaken, and its price action will align more closely with the semiconductor industry itself rather than following BTC's lead.

So my take is very clear: at the moment funding goes to zero, I am not touching a leveraged long position in $COHR . The reason is simple: a zero funding rate means the odds on the bet that "crypto sentiment will drive COHR higher" are not attractive, and the market is no longer paying for that narrative. If I had to get involved, I would wait for two signals. First, if $COHR can break above the prior high of 282.02 on strong volume and hold there, while funding turns positive, that would mean the decoupling logic has been disproven and crypto capital is reasserting control, in which case I would take a small long. Second, if BTC suffers a deep pullback at some point, while $COHR drops on rising volume and funding remains zero, that would mean decoupling has failed and traditional risk assets and crypto risk assets are bundling back together. In that case, I would instead try a small short, betting that both move down together.

The easiest place to be wrong in this call is overreading the semiconductor sector's independence.
