Hollywood Spends $70 Million to Make a Movie Called “Bitcoin”
The main character is set to be that self-proclaimed Satoshi Nakamoto 🎬
The film has entered post-production, and the lineup is quite intimidating. Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Casey Affleck, and even the co-director(s) are big-name filmmakers who’ve directed action spy thrillers like the “Jason Bourne” franchise.
The plot follows Craig Wright’s route—this person has spent years claiming to be the founder of Bitcoin.
Here’s the problem: UK courts have already ruled on the matter—he is not Nakamoto. His own website later posted a clarification notice.
Insiders directly mock it, saying the film in essence is a PR play by a few wealthy people, using a script that the court rejected.
There are also bloggers who point out that for all the talk of a big-budget production, they couldn’t even secure a deal with a major distributor. It’s basically an independent film wrapped in the shell of Hollywood.
Making a movie is fine. But packaging a script that courts dismissed as “historical truth” and showing it to outsiders—this is a bit like picking on honest people.
Old hands in the crypto world are worried: after ordinary viewers watch, they may genuinely take the movie as official history. If they later want to explain clearly, how much effort and explanation will it take?
Hopping on trends is okay—but altering history carefully. Otherwise, backlash is inevitable. The script doesn’t even dare to write what even the screenwriters wouldn’t.
