US Stocks Daily Review September 3
Overnight: S&P closed at 7747.71 (+1.06%), high 7756.76 / low 7686.71; Nasdaq closed at 26584.06 (+1.40%); Dow closed at 53686.11 (+1.18%). It opened near the intraday low, with technology stocks leading the way; it was lifted throughout the afternoon into the close.
In structure, the Yahoo intraday high is at 7756, and the previous close of 7666 has already been reclaimed. The August end high indicated by IG at 7771 was not reached; the 52-week high at 7816 is further away.
On events: Waller indicated that if August inflation continues to ease, he leans toward holding steady in September. The 10-year Treasury yield slid back to around 4.77%. Tonight at 20:30 Beijing time, the August Non-Farm Payrolls (NFP) will be released.
Intraday performance: treat as a rally that pulled back. Reclaiming and holding above 7750 would invalidate the bearish case; breaking below 7680 opens the downside.
My view: in the short term, expect a pullback first. Around 7750 is temporarily resistance, not support.
